Prepare your cookie dough as per your recipe for cut out cookies (not drop cookies) at room temperature to make it easier to work with.
Step 2
Divide sugar cookie dough into thirds into 3 medium size bowls with equal parts:
- Color 1/3 yellow – by using the yellow food coloring, continuing to add a little food coloring until it is a bright yellowy mustard color.
- 1/3 orange – use color mixing chart on your food coloring drops box to combine the yellow and the red food coloring until your dough is bright orange
- Leave the last 1/3 plain without coloring – this will be your white layer
Step 3
Line a loaf pan with plastic wrap or wax paper.

Press yellow dough into bottom of pan, followed by orange dough & white dough.

Press firmly.

Recipe Notes from Making Candy Corn Sugar Cookies
Be sure to pull them out before they get browned on the top. The colors will not be very vibrant if they bake too long! I learned the hard way with my first time and next time had better looking candy corn cookies.
I love easy recipes like this one and how easy these cookies are to shape, and you don’t have to flour the counter, roll dough, get out the electric mixer, use cookie cutters, re-roll your dough, and repeat the whole process fifty times.
Allow to cool & enjoy candy corn season.
Super Easy Halloween Candy Corn Cookie Recipe
My family loves Halloween and cookies. And I love that I don’t have to buy more Halloween cookie cutters for these themed cookies. The recipe calls for a few things, but these are easy sugar cookies anyone should be able to make. Plus, this smaller cookies are still soft sugar cookies, which is a favorite in my household.
You can make them extra special if you want and do some color coordinated frosting like orange frosting on orange and so on and so forth. Or you can do some royal icing. You just need egg whites and confectioners’ sugar and some vanilla extract as well as some piping tips. Or you can do almond extract if you don’t like vanilla.
These sweet treats are perfect just because, for a Halloween party, or as a gift. I mean, who doesn’t love free sugar cookies? But this will be your favorite sugar cookie recipe for Halloween. It’s definitely mine.
