This is a summary for Brinley from 11.75 to 12 years old.
SLEEPING
Sleeping has been good! No issues here.
EATING
Eating is good with nothing major interesting or new to report.
ELEMENTARY SCHOOL
Brinley ended elementary school during this time period! It is pretty crazy that she is done with that part of her life AND that I no longer have a child in elementary school. She had a great time, loved her teacher, and loved her classmates.
SOCCER
Soccer has been great so far. Nate took over coaching starting in June. She has loved that. He does a great job of creating a really positive culture and the girls are thriving! They played in a couple of tournaments this summer and we have seen so much improvement in them already.
SUMMER
Summer was fun! We did most of our big things in the spring, so we didn’t do a lot in the summer. She did a church camp and we had a couple of family reunions. She also went on her 12 year old trip with Nate’s parents. They do a fun thing where they take the grandkids turning 12 that year on a trip. Brinley is the only one her age, so her trip was just her and them. They went back East (in the United States) and visited sites of historical significance for our church. She had a lot of fun!
PIANO
Piano is going well. She had her piano recital during this time and did well!
She doesn’t love to practice, as most kids who take the piano are. She is working at being more consistent and above that more diligent while practicing. There is a difference between practicing and just getting it over with and actually putting significant work in.
DAILY SCHEDULE
Most of this time was summer. For summer, I have a “note” I created on my phone that has a list of things that has to be accomplished each day before “fun” can happen. This includes having a clean room, practice piano, study scriptures, get ready, and do a daily chore (this can be dishes, yard work, laundry, etc.).
Brinley isn’t a big sleep-in person, so I didn’t have to worry about waking her up in the morning. She woke up naturally by a good time. For bedtime, she typically went to bed around 10 PM in the summer.
