Storing Your Leftover Edible Paint
If the kids don’t use all of the paint on the first day, cover your jars with plastic wrap and put them into the refrigerator. You can use it again the next day too. A dry cool place like the fridge will keep it from souring or going bad. You could even store your edible watercolors in clean baby food jars.
Edible Food Paint
The best part of this paint is it doesn’t require icing or drops of food coloring or gel food coloring or any liquid food coloring. So there is no staining the skin.
And it tastes better than most corn starch paints. And the best part is, it can double as a sensory activity. Homemade paint is such a fun idea. You get to make the paint and then the fun part, finger painting.
Our Experience With These Edible Paints
I like this recipe for edible paint because I don’t have to bake flour or wheat flour (whatever kind you use) before I whisk all the ingredients together since flour is dangerous to eat raw.
A cup water or two, yogurt, and Fruit Loops is all you really need. And the texture isn’t bad. Like the mixture isn’t really grainy despite the edible ingredients. Also, you can use it on a variety of surfaces and not have to worry about staining.
