What is it? Shark Vertex Cordless Stick Vacuum

Why parents love it: Parents say this vacuum has super strong suction power, a long-lasting battery life, and is highly versatile for hard floors, carpet, couches, and more.

How much is it? $350 (normally $500)

As a parent your cleaning routine may fall by the wayside. And hey, we’re not judging! When you’re trying to keep a human alive, keeping your floors clean and free of crumbs, dust and pet hair is probably low on your list of priorities. But getting a vacuum that can do it all — and do it all quickly, with little fuss — might turn your most avoided chore into one that you can do regularly. The Shark Vertex Cordless Stick Vacuum offers the convenience of a cord-free, lightweight cleaning experience — and now, you can get it for $350, a whopping $150 less than the regular price.

Parents in the BabyCenter community rave about the extremely strong suction power of a Shark vacuum, plus the impressive versatility to tackle any surface in your home. And the Shark Vertex is no exception. A true do-it-all tool, you can use the stick vacuum on multiple surfaces including hardwood, tile, and carpet, and switch it to a handheld for cleaning couches, stairs, and hard-to-reach corners.

There are a few features that really make this Shark stick vacuum standout, including dual batteries that each hold a 60-minute charge, meaning you can easily tackle your entire home without having to charge it. The arm also bends in the middle, making it possible to reach under cribs, couches, and tables without having to move any furniture. And, most importantly, users were impressed by the high suction power, even on carpets.

“I have a Shark Vertex [and] I love it. . . I had a Dyson prior to this, and was honestly disappointed. My shark is light, and can also be used as a handheld. It is meant for all floor types too. I go from carpet to tile and back all the time,” says one BabyCenter parent.

Many other BabyCenter caregivers agree that Shark vacuums are a great investment:

“We have two Shark vacuums and love them. They work great, and I love how many places the handle will come apart to make it easier to clean in weird spaces.”

“I have a Shark vacuum and I LOVE it! The suction is absolutely fantastic.”

“I only buy Shark. the best brand I’ve ever owned!”

And, any families with dogs or cats will be glad to hear how well the Shark Vertex sucks up pet hair and dander. You’ll get a deep clean each time as it’s able to dig into carpets, even thicker piles, in addition to hard floors. In fact, it even includes a HEPA filter that helps keep these and other allergens out of your home.

“I have kids, dogs, cats, a farm, a husband who works outdoors, and a 100-year old house, so dust, dirt, and random unidentified crumbs are pretty much a way of life here,” writes one reviewerOpens a new window. “I would not hesitate to suggest this vacuum to anyone looking for an effective, well made, durable, SUCKY vacuum that is great bang for your buck.”

Others praise this Shark vacuum for its versatility.

“This thing is the multi-purpose, powerful vacuum for just about any job around our house! Cleaning Frenchie hairs? Check. Crumbs from our sons’ last snack? Check. Bits of dust, leaves, grass clippings or whatever wandered inside? Check, check, and well, you get the idea,” says one parentOpens a new window.

A few things to keep in mind, however, is that some reviewers note that it’s harder to clean high-pile carpets (as is the case with most stick vacuums) and doing so drains the battery faster. Some also mention that the battery in general doesn’t last as long as the advertised 60 minutes. However, if you charge it in between cleanings, this shouldn’t be much of an issue, especially since you get two.

Overall, parents in the market for a new vacuum that’s lightweight, easy to maneuver, and can stand up to a household with kids and pets will want to check out the Shark Vertex stick vacuumOpens a new window, especially at such a great price.
