Once my baby started walking, he was constantly on the go. And honestly, he hasn’t stopped. I have to consistently watch him to ensure he is safe. Keeping up with a walking toddler is not easy – it can be overwhelming and exhausting, especially since they are trying to explore everything and anything. Luckily, I’ve come up with four simple, fun activities for their busy day.
1. Have playtime
Toddlers love playtime. Even more than that, they love playing with their parents. Play is crucial for your child’s social, emotional, physical, and cognitive growth. It’s also an excellent opportunity for parents to engage fully with their child. So put away your cell phone, turn off the TV, and get down on the floor for some playtime with your child. Playing Roll It to Me where you and your child roll a ball back and forth to another or putting a toddler-safe puzzle together are fun ways to get some play in. 2. Have a jam session
In our home, we love listening to or dancing to music, even making music! We’re not a musical family, per se, but music makes us all feel good. As soon as a song comes on, my kids are on their feet. That’s why it’s a good idea to set aside time every day to have a fun sing along or dance party.
It can be an exciting time when your toddler starts walking. But when your precious one falls or gets into something they should not be in, that’s no fun at all. Hopefully, these four tips will help keep your tot busy and safe and allow you to spend some quality time together especially since they grow up so quickly!
