How do I follow your advice to rely on family favorites to make my mental load in the kitchen lighter and also not have kids who are bored of seeing the same foods over and over? I mean, I get bored too! —Lia
The easiest way to do this is to think of small changes that will help things feel more interesting, but require minimal mental effort on your part.
Things such as a different pasta shape or pasta sauce, a different kind of rice, a different chicken nugget shape or type of chicken, a different dip or salad dressing, serving the food in a big family style platter rather than plating everyone’s plates at the stove.
Doing a bowl instead of a burrito or wrap or burger, but using the same basic ingredients. Or maybe a sandwich instead of a platter, or vice versa.
The really fun part of feeding toddlers, though, is that often they want it to be Exactly The Same Every Time…until the time they decide they hate it all and want nothing to do with any of it.
(That “fun” wording was sarcasm!)
