Brinley Preteen Summary: 10.75 Years Old

Daily life and schedule for a 10.75-year-old tween who was raised on Babywise. See her daily life, the activities she is involved in, and her daily routine.

This is a summary for Brinley from 10.5-10.75 years old.

    SLEEPING

Sleeping is going well. Brinley is getting better about waking up with an alarm.

    HAIR

Brinley really wants to do her own hair. This can be hard to accept because obviously as someone first does a ponytail alone it does not look super great.

But the reality is she needs to practice to get better and she needs to learn to do her own hair. I can’t do it forever. It is better for her to practice now while she is young than in high school.

It is funny that this is still a challenge for me to let go of even on my third daughter. I think we often look at our youngest child as being younger than they actually are.

I do have a friend who still does her high schooler’s hair, so I definitely do not want to get to that point.

    MUSICAL

Brinley finished out the musical Willy Wonka Jr. during this time. She loved it! Musicals really are unique in how they form bonds and friendships.

    MATURATION

During this time, the school had the maturation program for the girls and the boys.

The girls were all very nervous about it. I really talked about what was going to happen during the program, so I was surprised at how nervous Brinley still was.

Most of Brinley’s friends have older sisters. We moms were all surprised that the girls were so nervous. The stuff talked about is stuff they hear about and see from their sisters all the time.

    SCHOOL

School is great! Brinley always loves school and always loves her teacher. This year is no different.

    SOCCER

Soccer actually didn’t really get going during this time period because of all of the snow we had this winter. She ended up with 9 games in 18 days…so more on that next time.

    ORCHESTRA

Brinley loved orchestra. She plays the viola and plans to do orchestra again next year.

    DAILY SCHEDULE

7:00 AM – wake up and get ready for school.
8-9 AM – at school. The time varies depending on if it is an orchestra day or not.
4:00 PM – home. Piano practice. Chores. Activities. Play.
5:30 PM – dinner. Then free time and technology time.
8:00 PM – get ready for bed. She used to always shower in the morning, but she is starting to like to shower in the evening instead.
    8:30 PM – bedtime.
