This post gives sample schedule Babywise schedules for the seventh month. The seventh month of baby’s life comprises weeks 27-31. Baby is six months old moving to 7 months old. These are Babywise 6 and 7 Month Old Sample Schedules. Find out what to expect for eating, playtime, and sleep.

    6-7 month old baby

    Babywise Baby Six Month Overview

During the seventh month, you can aim for and expect the following:

    6 Month Old “Eat”

    • Baby will likely be ready to start solid foods. Consult with your doctor.
    • Have 4-5 liquid feedings in a day. This is in addition to the solid foods.

6 Month Old “Wake” or Playtime

    • Your baby’s wake window should be between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours 15 minutes. This is how long your baby should be awake between naps.
    • Independent play will be 15-30 minutes in length once baby can sit independently.
    • Discipline will be needed if it hasn’t been already. Discipline means to guide and correct, not to hurt.
    • Get toy recommendations for your 6-month-old baby here: Best Toys for Baby: Ages 4-6 Months
    • You can start to teach sign language to your baby if you haven’t already. This can be done at any point forward.

    6 Month Old “Sleep”

    • Baby will have 2-3 naps per day. Baby might be ready to move to two naps. Some are not ready for two naps until older. Average age for moving to two naps is 8 months.
    • Naps will be 1.5-2.5 hours each. The third nap can be short (about 45 minutes).
    • Baby should sleep 10-12 hours at night. Sleep might be solid or it might include a dreamfeed.
    • It is not uncommon for babies in the 5-8 month old range to start to have sleep issues for various reasons. If your 5 month old starts to have sleep troubles, be sure to read 11 Reasons Your 5-8 Month Old Stopped Sleeping Well.
    • You might also find that new skills are starting to disrupt baby sleep. 6 month old babies add new skills constantly. This leads to your baby not sleeping well because he is overly tired. Baby wakes early because the wake window was disrupted with the playing. For help with this, read How to Stop New Skills from Disrupting Naps and Sleep.

It is always helpful to see what others have successfully done in their days. Below are the schedules my babies used in this age range.

    6 month old boy

We have *just* transitioned from 5 meals/day to 4, dropping the early morning meal before I leave for work. Now I pump there instead. I sought Val’s advice a few months ago before my transition back to work, and she was spot on. That early morning “dreamfeed” starting affecting his naps a week before he turned 6 months. She’s a BW genius 😉

My sister nannies for us, so the activities vary, but this is the report I usually get when I call home while pumping. Naps and meals are very regular.

    then we have bath, songs/stories
    7:45/8 Bed
10pm I pump and then wake up again at 3am to pump.

I’m really trying to keep up with them as much as I can. we have also been playing with the four hour schedule. The above schedule is if I manipulate it. Sometimes they go a little over. Tonight we gave them a bottle at 4:15, then green beans at 6 then a four oz. bottle at 6:30 then Bed. I feel like I run out of wake time activities. I just got babywise II and see that I need to do Independent play. We set up our pack and play this weekend so I plan to start using it tomorrow 🙂

My daughter is 6 months old, on a 3 1/2 hour schedule, and NOT a big eater at all! She could easily go 4 hours without eating and be totally fine, but I’m not sure I can lengthen her awake time or naps at this point in time. When I say she is not a big eater, at some meals she only eats 3-4oz and is perfectly happy until her next feeding! I tried introducing rice cereal last week. On the first day, she willingly opened her mouth it eat it and she hasn’t eaten it/opened her mouth since. I’ve decided to take a break for a few days with the solids and will start back with green veggies next week! Her schedule now is:

    4-6 months

Since 4 months (he will be 6 months this week) we have been working on transitioning to 3.5-hour schedule. After a few days of the longer schedule, he wakes up early from naps and we end up doing the 3-hour schedule above, so for the last little while we’ve just done the longer schedule 2-3 days a week which allows me to decide which days rather than him. Hopefully we’ll do this all the time soon!6am Nurse, then some playtime
