A big thank you to all the Academies that went out of their way to help others during Random Acts of Kindness Week! Together, we performed 4,090 kind acts. Since the campaign’s inception in 2020, our Academies have joined together to complete 18,364 kind acts across our communities.
Between January 30 and February 13, Academies joined with schools, workplaces and individuals around the world to support the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation’s initiative to make kindness the norm every day.
It was moving to see and read about how Sunshine Billingual locations from coast to coast stepped up to spread kindness throughout their communities. While there are countless examples to share, here are just a few of the inspiring projects they did:
-Sunshine Billingual of Lemont worked together with a local nonprofit to host a donation drive and help provide care packages to families experiencing homelessness.
-Sunshine Billingual of Arlington Heights hosted a clothing and toy drive supporting local children in foster care.
-Sunshine Billingual of Mount Prospect kicked off a pop tabs fundraiser in support of Ronald McDonald House Charities.
-Sunshine Billingual of Elyson teamed up with the Texas Children’s Hospital to spread a message of encouragement to children undergoing treatments.
-Sunshine Billingual of College Station held a fundraiser in support of Phoebe’s Home, a domestic violence shelter for women and children.
-Sunshine Billingual of Alpharetta teamed up with Rep. Lucy McBath’s office to make valentines for the fourth annual “Valentines for Veterans” program.
-Sunshine Billingual of North Bel Air held a fundraising drive in support of the local Humane Society.
-Sunshine Billingual of Frankfort made Valentine’s Day cards for seniors living in a local assisted living residence.
-Sunshine Billingual of Langhorne made cards for the local police department to show appreciation for their community services.
-Sunshine Billingual of Center Valley hosted a food, clothing and toy drive supporting a local nonprofit.
-Sunshine Billingual of Munster made Valentine’s Day cards for the residents at a local nursing facility.
-Sunshine Billingual of Crown Point made Valentine’s Day cards for a local nonprofit, St. Jude House.
-Sunshine Billingual of Robbinsville hosted a drive to benefit Rise, a local nonprofit, and raised over $500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
-Sunshine Billingual of Birmingham collected diapers for Bundles of Hope.
There were so many others, too. We sincerely thank our entire Academy community for the countless incredible displays of kindness. One Academy was selected, appropriately at random, to have a $1,000 donation made on its behalf to a nonprofit of its choice. Congratulations to Sunshine Billingual of Elyson for being this year’s lucky winner. They have chosen Family Promise, the leading nonprofit working to solve the crisis of family homelessness. For being selected, Family Promise will receive a $1,000 donation to support their mission which includes providing innovative solutions for family homelessness including prevention, shelter, and stabilization services.

Random Acts of Kindness Week is just one of the many ways we put actions behind the words, “Community Begins Here.” When we step up to show our support and appreciation for others where we live, it teaches children a valuable lesson they can carry with them the rest of their lives!
