I recommend this virtual CPR course to all my friends – and it’s 40% off right now

BabyCenter selects products based on the research of our editors and the wisdom of parents in the BabyCenter Community. All prices and details are accurate at the time of publication. We may earn a commission from shopping links.

Taking a course that covers infant and child CPR has been on my mental to-do list since 2020, when I had my first son in 2020. It’s right there alongside making flu shot appointments with the pediatrician, getting new shoes for my toddler, scheduling a sitter for an upcoming date night, and a running list of a million other parenting tasks that I never feel like I can keep up with.

The truth is, I’ve always been overwhelmed by the thought of taking a CPR and safety course. How would I find the right one? How would I find the time to attend? And so, despite the critical importance, it has fallen to the bottom of my to-do list.

As a mom to a 2 ½-year-old and a 5-month-old, the ever-present fear of an emergency happening hangs over me. I know it’s irresponsible not to be informed and prepared. So, when the editors at BabyCenter offered me the chance to take their All-in-One Baby Safety with CPROpens a new window course from the comfort of my own home in less than 75 minutes, I was in.

The class is broken into 13 video lessons that are straightforward, approachable, and digestible

The courseOpens a new window covers first aid preparedness, CPR for infants and children, choking rescue maneuvers, and some other general safety information, like how to handle fevers.

    C. Anthoney Lim, M.D., M.S., a top pediatric ER doctor, is your guide throughout each of the lessons. And BabyCenter parent contributor Anna Jimenez Lyle is there to ask all the questions you would ask if you were in the room with him. Dr. Lim is calm, thorough, and informative. He strikes me as the doctor I would want if I ever wind up in the ER with one of my kiddos. And Anna is relatable and authentic – I appreciate that her questions don’t seem over-rehearsed; it’s like she’s experiencing the course right along with you.

While I took the course for the CPR instruction, I really appreciated the additional information sprinkled throughout the lessons

For example, the classOpens a new window has helpful advice on when a trip to the ER is necessary, as well as tips for practicing water safety and preventing choking for children of all ages.

When it came to actually learning CPR, I really liked that Anna completed a few rounds of both infant and child CPR with live feedback from Dr. Lim. The repetition of this format made it easy to follow along and actually feel like I was retaining the information.

At the end of each section, you have the chance to take a short optional quiz to ensure you’ve absorbed all the information. And each lesson comes with PDF downloads that you can save or print to reference later. If you’re like me and have mom-brain 24/7, this is a game-changer. I printed them out and stashed them in my kitchen, as well as the glove box of my car, for easy reference.

I’ve already recommended this course to a handful of friends

Like me, each one has commented that they’ve been meaning to take a course like this, but haven’t known where to start.

In less than 75 minutes, I learned new skills that could save my kids’ lives – and crossed something off my to-do list. I only wish I’d discovered the course sooner.

While I was given access to the courseOpens a new window for free so I could write this review, I honestly can’t come up with much in the way of criticism about it. The only thing I’d say is that if you are set on taking an in-person CPR course (and have the time to do so), then the virtual instruction this class offers probably isn’t for you.

The truth is, I think the price tag of $45 is a great deal to have access to all of this helpful, potentially lifesaving information. And I personally like the fact that you can review and re-review this information whenever you need it (whereas with an in-person class, I’d be worried that I’d forget everything shortly afterward).
