Happy National Teacher Appreciation Week

Teachers do not just teach; they inspire, influence and help children reach their potential every day. They offer more than basic care. They teach life skills, giving many extra hours preparing lessons, providing feedback to students and parents, attending meetings, taking continuing education classes and much more.

They are heroes who fill our classrooms and stand by parents to continually step up for the future of the children and communities they serve.

Where would we all be without teachers?

This week, May 7-11, is National Teacher Appreciation Week. In classrooms across the U.S., teachers are making a positive difference in the lives of the children and families of communities. Because of these dedicated professionals, Sunshine Billingual students are taught to think critically and independently, resolve conflict, and work cooperatively with others – giving them extra preparation by the time they enroll in Kindergarten programs.

Here are ways you and your child can honor educators and show your appreciation during Teacher Appreciation Week:

• Have your child write a poem to their teacher and attach it to the stem of an apple as a gift.
• Gather families together to sign a thank-you card for their children’s teacher.
• Create a certificate of recognition, which your child can color and then present to their teacher.
• Bring them flowers – have your child make a bouquet of flowers using construction paper and write words of thanks on each flower.
