Easy Christmas Pizza – Yummy Toddler Food

With a 3-ingredient crust (that’s high in protein) and a super easy method, this festive pull-apart Christmas Pizza is a fun meal to share with the kids. It works as well as an easy weeknight dinner as it does for holiday parties!

I make our Greek Yogurt Pizza Dough regularly as a super easy kids meal idea and we’ve been loving this Christmas Pizza version this holiday season! The dough pulls apart, which makes assembling the pizza and serving it super simple, and it’s such a fun and festive option—that’s actually easy to make.

The base dough uses just three simple ingredients and is higher in protein than traditional pizza dough, which makes this a substantial meal to share. Plus, you can decorate the pizza tree however you and the kids like, using their favorite toppings.

Add some sliced cucumbers, warmed peas, or sliced fruit on the side and you have a perfect meal for dinner or lunch!

(You may also like other easy meal ideas including Pastina Soup, Christmas Pancakes, Cheesy Broccoli Rice, and my Christmas Muffins.)

    Ingredients You Need

Here’s a look at the ingredients you need to have on hand to make Christmas Pizza so you know what to pick up from the store or have ready.

ingredients in christmas pizza on counter.
    • Self-rising flour (or 1 cup all-purpose flour and 1 teaspoon baking powder)
    • Plain Greek yogurt: Full fat Greek yogurt, made with whole milk, works with the flour to form a quick and tender pizza dough.
    • Olive oil: I like to add some extra virgin olive oil to the pizza dough to help ensure it’s tender and has the best texture with minimal kneading.
    • Pizza sauce: You can use jarred pizza sauce in this Christmas pizza recipe or use a homemade sauce such as my Hidden Veggie Pasta Sauce, cooked down a little thicker.
    • Shredded mozzarella cheese: This style of cheese gives the classic flavor and cheese-pull that we expect in a pizza recipe.
    • Toppings such as thinly sliced pepperoni, bell peppers, basil, grated Parmesan, and other toppings as desired.

    Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the easiest way to make Christmas Pizza?

I love this method for Christmas Pizza because the dough is so easy to make and assemble into a tree. Then the dough simply pulls apart to serve.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

You can assemble the entire recipe and cover it right on the sheet pan and refrigerate for up to 24 hours before baking. Or bake, then reheat to serve.

What toppings are best on a Christmas Pizza?

I like to cut pepperoni into halves and line them up to make a garland, cut a yellow bell pepper to make a star, use fresh basil to make another garland, and grated Parmesan as snow.

    How to Store

Store cooled pizza in an airtight container in the fridge. Warm through to serve.

    Best Tips for Success

    • Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Warm briefly on a heat-safe plate in the microwave or in a toaster oven. You can also freeze leftover cooked pizza. Let cool first, then transfer to a freezer bag and remove as much of the air as possible. Seal and freeze for up to 6 months.
    • To make the dough ahead, follow the recipe through step 2 and transfer to a plastic storage bag. Remove as much air as possible and seal. Store in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Let sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before rolling out. Proceed with the recipe.
    • To freeze the dough: Prepare the dough and roll out. Stack crusts between layers of parchment paper, tuck into a freezer bag, remove the air, and seal. Freeze for up to 6 months. To make pizza, pull one dough from the freezer, add toppings, and bake for about 2 minutes longer than directed in the recipe.
    • Greek yogurt works best in this recipe.
    • Sub in whole wheat flour and add 1-2 tablespoons water as needed to bring the dough together.

    • Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

    • Add the flour, yogurt, salt, and olive oil to a medium bowl. Use a spoon to bring the dough together, then use clean hands to knead lightly for 1 minute to make a smooth dough.

    • Cut into 11 pieces. Use hands or a rolling pin dusted with flour to spread or roll the dough out to about ½ inch thick rounds. Make the tree shape, with a row of 4 rounds, 3 rounds, 2 rounds, then 1 round, and form the last piece into a small round for the top and a stump for the bottom (as shown above or however you prefer!).

    • Top with the sauce, cheese, and any desired toppings. Use halved pepperoni slices to make a garland and cut a bell pepper for a star.

    • Bake for 12-14 minutes, or until the cheese and the edges of the crust are golden brown. Add fresh basil as additional garland, and parmesan as snow, if desired. Serve warm.
